PlayStation State of Play planned for February, according to insider

For the past couple years, Sony has hosted many State of Play streams, showing off new and upcoming games at a pretty regular cadence. One of the console maker’s favourite times to premiere such streams has been during the month of February. It seems Sony will be continuing this trend, as insiders have now claimed that an upcoming State of Play will indeed arrive some time next month.

As reported by known insider NateTheHate (who correctly identified the date of the recently-released Switch 2 reveal), PlayStation is set to host its next State of Play sometime in February, responding to one user question on Twitter regarding the event by simply stating “How's February sound?.”

As mentioned, this would be far from the first time that Sony has premiered a State of Play during the second month of the year, with 2021-2024 all having featured such streams in February.

State of Play February

It is worth noting however that in 2024 specifically, February’s SoP was dedicated to showing off the then-upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – with 2022’s focusing on Gran Turismo 7.

Of course, it is entirely possible that this year’s State of Play will offer more of an overview on a greater variety of titles – but don’t be surprised if it is focused instead on a single game.

Historically, Sony has hosted around 4 separate State of Plays each year, and so even if February’s event winds up being somewhat light, expect more announcements to follow up in later months.
