Persona 5 + Royal have officially sold over 10 million copies

While the Persona series has always had a loyal fanbase, the launch of Persona 5 in particular pushed the sub-series into the mainstream – crossing over into countless other titles while also releasing its own suite of spin-offs. Just over 9 years on from the original game’s release, ATLUS has announced that Persona 5 / Royal have sold over 10 million copies.

Making the announcement via the dedicated Japanese Persona Channel site, ATLUS officially confirmed that Persona 5 Royal has sold over 1 million copies in Japan alone.

Alongside this, the team confirmed global sales for Persona 5, revealing that the original P5 alongside Royal have in total exceeded 10 million copies sold (10.46 million as of the end of August 2025).

This marks an increase of more than 3 million copies since the previous figure (which put the game at 7.2 million by April 2023).

Royal 10 million

Of course, as mentioned, there have been many more entries in the Persona 5 series beyond just P5 and Royal, with spin-offs including the likes of Persona 5 Strikers, Tactica, Dancing in Starlight and more.

Though specific figures for these titles have not been shared, ATLUS announced back in December of 2023 that Persona 5 and its spin-offs had all sold a total of 10 million copies – putting the various side-titles at around 2.5 million sales at the time.

Seeing as how ATLUS has managed to release even more spin-offs since, it would be interesting to get the full breakdown of Persona 5’s many entries.
