The PAYDAY series is currently far from its peak, with the 3rd / most recent entry in the series being outshone by its decade-old predecessor. While PAYDAY 3 has improved in some ways since launch, one of the game’s most requested and long-promised features – a basic offline mode – is no longer being released.
PAYDAY studio Starbreeze has made quite a few major moves in recent days, with the company most recently announcing that they are cancelling their co-op D&D project in order to focus on improving PAYDAY 3.
Unfortunately, one of the game’s most-requested features – a proper offline mode – is no longer happening, despite Starbreeze announcing that they were working on it well over a year ago.
During the game’s 2nd anniversary Twitch stream, the devs at Starbreeze confirmed that an offline mode is no longer happening, claiming it to be “not feasible for the direction [they] were heading in with the game.”
As mentioned, Starbreeze and PAYDAY are not free from controversy, with the most recent entry suffering from plenty of issues, leading players to go back to PAYDAY 2.
Then, Starbreeze announced a new subscription plan allowing you to rent PAYDAY 2’s DLCs for a monthly price, despite the title being well over a decade old.
While we will have to wait and see whether Starbreeeze can right the PAYDAY 3 ship, early indicators are not looking positive.
