Nintendo announces 45-minute ‘Kirby Air Riders’ Direct

During the Nintendo Switch 2’s big blowout Direct, the console maker officially announced Kirby Air Riders – the first entry in the series to be directed by Masahiro Sakurai in over two decades. Though we saw nothing outside of a brief teaser cinematic, Nintendo has now announced a chunky 45-minute long Direct dedicated to the upcoming Switch 2 exclusive.

Making the surprise announcement, Nintendo officially announced that they will be hosting a Direct dedicated to Kirby Air Riders later today, writing: “Join us on Aug 19 at 6 a.m. PT [2 p.m. UK Time] for a Kirby Air Riders Direct with director Mr. Sakurai. The livestreamed presentation will last roughly 45 minutes and provide an in-depth look at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game. ”

As mentioned, we’ve seen pretty much nothing from this game, aside from a vague cinematic ‘vibes’ teaser trailer, and so getting a full 45 minutes will be interesting indeed.

Of course, Sakurai is known for going in-depth with his presentations and so we will likely get a rather comprehensive breakdown of the upcoming racing game and the minutiae of its various mechanics.

Given how the Kirby Air Riders was previously announced to be coming some time this year, expect Nintendo to also give us a release date for the game during the presentation.

With Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza both having been out for a while now, many Switch 2 owners were beginning to wonder what was in store next. We will finally find out later today.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to Kirby Air Riders? Do you have any expectations for it? Will the game have that Sakurai charm fans have grown to expect? Let us know your thoughts down below.
