Fallout 76 gets stealthy PS5 and Series X|S support

For the past 5 years Bethesda has been slowly but surely updating Fallout 76, turning it into the game that many hoped it would be prior to launch. One big omission so far however has been the lack of any support for current-gen systems. As part of the most recent update, the devs sneakily added 60fps support and more for the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.

While Bethesda themselves have yet to make an official announcement, the ‘Once in a Blue Moon’ update for Fallout 76 has now arrived, and current-gen players immediately noticed a number of major improvements.

While we do not yet have any proper details on what was changed/improved, some eagle-eyed fans (such as Twitter user ElegantPlays) have surmised that the framerate has been boosted to 60fps (though not locked) with resolution also seeing a bump.

Additionally, quality settings seem to have been improved somewhat, with one of the more notable upgrades being for the lighting, which is said to no longer be set on the PC equivalent of ‘Low’.

It will be interesting to see exactly what has changed when/if Bethesda releases any patch notes on these performance and quality improvements. All that can be said for now is that it was a long time coming.
