Ever since the release of Final Shape, Destiny 2 has been in a bit of a limbo. That said, with the game’s next big expansion set to arrive in a little over a week’s time, the team at Bungie are enticing both old and new players alike to hop back into the live-service looter shooter with an open access period. Starting from tomorrow, all of Destiny 2’s expansions (alongside other additional content) will be free to play for the next two weeks.
Making the announcement as part of the company’s This Week In Destiny blog post, the team at Bungie offered a ton of new details surrounding the upcoming Edge of Fate expansion – including new weapon tuning for different archetypes; exotics; economy updates; quality of life improvements and much more.
Those who haven’t played Destiny 2 in a while however will have quite a bit to catch up on. Fortunately (and in a rather rare move for the game), Bungie announced that Destiny 2 is getting an ‘open access’ period – writing:
“Starting July 8 and until July 22, all currently available Destiny 2 Expansions will be available for free on all supported platforms Additionally, all three currently available Episodes will also be free for all supported platforms until July 15.”
Of course, the base Destiny 2 is a free-to-play experience, however many of the game’s best aspects are locked behind its expansions/episodes.
As such, if you’ve been away from Destiny for a while, now might be the best time to check back in and see whether the new content is for you or not.
