Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is the latest entry in the long-running combat flight simulation series. First launched back in 2019, the game has seen consistent sales for the past half a decade or so – aided by new releases on additional systems. A little over a year since its last milestone, Ace Combat 7 has now sold over 6 million copies.
Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Ace Combat page celebrated the 6th anniversary of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown by unveiling the game’s latest sales figures, with brand director Kazuaki Kono saying (in a translated post):
“It's been six years since the release of Skies Unknown, and the total number of copies sold worldwide has exceeded six million. My desire to connect with as many people as possible has become a reality. Thank you to everyone who has purchased a copy and everyone involved. I am very grateful.”
Since its release back in January 2019, Ace Combat 7 has been a consistent seller – hitting 2.5 million copies within its first two years and then going on to sell an additional million each successive year.
With over 6 million copies sold, Ace Combat 7 is by far the best-performing entry in the series, now nearly tripling previous record holder Ace Combat 04’s 2.64 million copies.
Given its continued success, it will be interesting to see how the next Ace Combat performs when it is eventually released.
