In just over a month, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has managed to become the second best-selling game of 2025 in the US.

In the past 5 years or so, Microsoft has swallowed up quite a significant chunk of the video games industry, with the two biggest examples being Zenimax Media in 2020 and of course Activision Blizzard. Given how many fingers it has across the metaphorical video game pie, it comes as little surprise that 4 of the top 5 best-selling games in May were all published by Microsoft.

Since its shadow-drop two weeks ago, the remaster for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been performing extremely well – selling over 4 million copies in mere days and achieving the 3rd biggest launch on PS5 this year. As time progresses and more data is gathered, we’re getting a clearer idea of just how well Oblivion performed; with the game currently sitting as the 3rd best-selling game of 2025 in the US.

Despite having the biggest slice of the player count pie, Game Pass users have put less time into Oblivion and Clair Obscur compared to Steam and PlayStation.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is already a huge hit across the board – with the game being the 3rd fastest selling game of 2025 on PlayStation.

Oblivion Remastered has been out for one week now and while the game has launched to a positive reception, there is still some room for improvement. Now, Bethesda is turning to the fans for suggestions on new additions to the game. 

Following a ton of leaks and rumours, the much-anticipated Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was finally shadow-dropped to a great deal of interest, seeing a peak concurrent player count on Steam of over 100,000 within hours of its launch. In alignment with the announcement that the remaster has surpassed 4 million total players, Oblivion managed to hit a new peak concurrent player count on Steam on Sunday.

While the surprise was spoiled weeks ahead of time, Bethesda's reveal of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered still managed to deliver. The reveal quickly hyped fans up for a return to The Imperial City. 

Nvidia has announced the next round of titles for GeForce Now. This week, eight more games will join the cloud gaming library, including Bethesda's surprise release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. 

Bethesda's solid relationship with mod creators continues to put the rest of the industry to shame. Upon last night's launch of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Bethesda reached out to the team of fans behind the Skyblivion project, offering them all codes for the new remaster.
