For pretty much its entire existence, Call of Duty has operated using a familiar model, with the FPS franchise seeing a brand new title released on an annual basis from one of the 3 core COD studios. While this has worked in the past, Black Ops 7 seems to have been a breaking point for some. According to known insiders, Microsoft is now considering a major shake-up, including a standalone Zombies game.

Just last week, Activision rolled out the Ranked multiplayer update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. While a week has passed since then, the developers have yet to address a growing issue amongst players - the game is locking people out despite having features like TPM enabled. 

Prior to the launch of Call of Duty Black Ops 7, the team at Treyarch promised to offer some of the best-post launch content we’ve seen in series history (at least the best since the franchise went the live-service route). So far, they seem to be keeping to their word, with Season 2 of Black Ops 7 arriving later today alongside major updates across all modes.

With Black Ops 7 coming around the corner, the team at Treyarch seem to be saying and doing all the right things in the lead-up to its release. Unfortunately, the duality of Call of Duty ensures that no future entry will ever truly be the best it can.
