Battlefield 6 launch was 4 times bigger than BF5 in Europe

After a ton of hype and anticipation, Battlefield 6 finally arrived to huge success, selling over 7 million copies in its first week while amassing a concurrent player count of almost 750,000 on Steam alone. EA unlocks battle pass and XP boosts for all players impacted by Battlefield 6 outage

While I had a very smooth experience with Battlefield 6 in the run up to launch day, all of my testing had been done within Steam, so it came as quite a surprise when the game unlocked on Friday and PC players were having issues with the EA App. The developers have been quick to fix entitlement issues for those impacted and to smooth things over for those locked out at launch, there will be some freebies given out to players.

The Battlefield 6 beta was met with a wave of optimism over the Summer, and now, launch day is finally upon us. I've been playing the game in early access over the past week, giving me ample opportunity to see the campaign and dive into multiplayer modes. I'm pleased to report that Battlefield 6 is a strong return to form, doing away with all the controversial changes found in Battlefield 2042 and delivering the quintessential Battlefield experience. New Battlefield 6 playtest will focus on server browser and Portal content

You may have thought that testing for Battlefield 6 had ended with the open beta a few weeks ago, but it turns out, EA still has more rounds of playtests on the way. Those who have signed up for Battlefield Labs are being called upon once again, this time to test out new Portal features, as well as an early version of the Server Browser - a highly requested feature following the open beta.

We are a couple of weeks removed from the hugely popular Battlefield 6 beta, which shattered numerous franchise records. DICE still has plenty more to announce for the game before its launch in October though. Battlefield 6 on Steam will not require EA’s launcher

One of the biggest issues with PC gaming is the ability for a publisher to create its own bespoke game launcher. While in and of itself not a problem, many of these launchers are required even when using the likes of Steam or Epic Games. One of the biggest culprits in this regard is EA. Thankfully, the publisher has confirmed that Battlefield 6 on Steam will not require the use of the EA app.
