LG’s latest 4K monitor is a multitasker’s dream

One of the biggest advantages to owning a 4K display right now, is the multitasking capabilities, allowing for four 1080p windows to be on screen at once. Now, if you ever happen to need to display more than two inputs at once, then your options are fairly limited, though LG is looking to remedy that with its latest 42-inch monitor.

LG's latest monitor measures in at 42.5 inches and a ton of inputs, allowing professional users with multiple systems to make the most out of their 4K resolution by dividing the display up into four 1080p screens. There are two HDMI 2.0 inputs, two HDMI 1.4 inputs, a DisplayPort 1.2a port and one USB 3.1 Type C connection.

Aside from the impressive selection of inputs, the LG 43UD79-B uses an IPS panel with a non-glare coating. It offers a fairly standard 1000:1 contrast ratio, 178 degree viewing angles and a peak brightness of 350 cd.m2, with support for up to 1.07 billion colours.

This particular monitor won't be a huge hit with the PC gaming market but it should do wonders for business/professional users who need to juggle a lot at once. This particular monitor is releasing in Japan first for now, with a price of around ¥‎83,000, which works out at almost $700 in the US.

KitGuru Says: I used to use PiP support fairly often when I first made the jump to 4K, though the limitations my particular monitor had in terms of window size and inputs did get in the way. Do any of you guys multitask a lot? Would a monitor like this with its sheer number of inputs help at all?

KitGuru Games: The Duality of Call of Duty

A franchise as big as Call of Duty will always be hampered by its own size, with the series having its hands tied left and right so as to not deviate too far from what has made Activision (now Microsoft) Billions on an annual basis. The most recent Black Ops 6 is in some ways the best entry in the franchise, and in other ways, the worst. With Black Ops 7 coming around the corner, the team at Treyarch seem to be saying and doing all the right things in the lead-up to its release. Unfortunately, the duality of Call of Duty ensures that no future entry will ever truly be the best it can.

Give me this with HDR, Freesync 2 etc. please.

  2. “This particular monitor won’t be a huge hit with the PC gaming market…”

Why or is there an assumption about us all being the same? Wouldn’t it be safer to toss this into a niche market rather that imply no cares as long as most gamers wouldn’t be interested?
