Sony reportedly fixes PS4 messaging bug

Over the weekend, a nasty PS4 messaging bug came to light, which would ‘brick' consoles by sending them into a constant crash loop. Some players used this to their advantage by sending a string of characters to PS4 players on opposing teams to force them out of a game. It was a pretty big problem for Sony but apparently, the bug has now been fixed.

Sony hasn't issued a proper press release about the fix, or really done much to acknowledge the issue in the first place. However, according to the AskPlayStationUK Twitter account, the bug is now gone:

If you were already affected by the messaging bug then there are steps you can take to get your console back up and running:

  1. Turn off the PS4 system by pressing the power button on the front panel. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
  2. Once the PS4 system is off, press and hold the power button again. Release it after you hear the second beep: one beep will sound when you first press, and another seven seconds later.
  3. Connect the DualShock 4 with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully this bug is now out of the way for good. It must have been pretty frustrating for those trying to play multiplayer over the weekend, especially with the Black Ops 4 launch. Were any of you affected by the PS4 messaging bug?
