A few days ago, Polyphony Digital released their latest patch for Gran Turismo 7, bringing with it a ton of new additions including a new track; half a dozen vehicles; AI improvements and more. Interestingly, one of the stated improvements was to the game’s physics system. Unfortunately, its implementation has had some humorous results – though the team are aware of the issue.
Released on the 25th of July, update 1.49 for Gran Turismo 7 brought with it (among many things) “a major update…for the car physics simulation model.” impacting “the suspension physics model and tire physical calculation model resulting in much more natural weight shifting during cornering” – alongside “more realistic tire heating and wear.”
Unfortunately, this update to the physics model appears to have had some inadvertent side effects, with players reporting a new and rather humorous bug which sees competing vehicles begin to bounce up into the air.
