October’s PlayStation Plus line-up includes Alan Wake 2

Each month, Sony offers 3 games for ‘free’ to all those with a PlayStation Plus subscription – titles which will remain in your library as long as you are subscribed to the service. During the company’s most recent State of Play presentation, Sony announced next month’s PS Plus Essential line-up – which includes the excellent Alan Wake 2 and a surprise addition to their ‘Extra’ tier.

Making the announcement during the State of Play presentation (and expanding on it via their blog), Sony officially confirmed October’s PlayStation Plus Essential line-up.

Set to go live on the 7th of October, subscribers to the service can look forward to:

  • Alan Wake 2 [PS5]
  • Goat Simulator 3 [PS5 | PS4]
  • Cocoon [PS5 | PS4]

In a welcome and surprise announcement, ahead of The Last of Us Day Sony also revealed that Naughty Dog’s PS4 swan-song The Last of Us Part II is joining PlayStation Plus Extra from today. This includes TLOU Part II Remastered, which adds native PS5 support; additional features; the rogue-like ‘No Return’ game mode and more.

Finally, October looks to also be a pretty strong month for PS Plus Premium members, with the classics Tekken 3; Soul Calibur III and Tomb Raider Anniversary joining the highest tier.

While September was a relatively weak month all around for PlayStation Plus, Sony seems to be making up for it with October’s offerings. It will be interesting to see what other titles they have planned for PS Plus Extra / Premium.
