Earlier this year, the team at Remedy Entertainment released a surprise yet-highly-welcome update for the PC version of Control Ultimate Edition, introducing proper HDR support; additional ray-tracing options; DLSS enhancements and more. Finally, those on the console side of things can look forward to many of these enhancements, with a free update coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S next week.
Making the announcement on BlueSky, the team at Remedy wrote: “The Control Ultimate Edition free update that was released on PC earlier this year will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Monday, October 6th. Full update notes coming on Monday!”
As mentioned above, the update’s patch notes have yet to be released, however some of the enhancements confirmed to be coming include:
- Unlocked framerate option
- VRR support
- 120Hz support
Of course, we expect the update to include more than just the above, with some of the PC features likely coming to consoles including:
- HDR support
- Better SDR support
- FOV slider
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out exactly what has been added.
Even back on last-gen systems, Control was a visually striking title. As such, it is encouraging to see the team at Remedy continue to improve the game as the generations progress – even if HDR should have been there at launch.
