While Gearbox continues to optimise and fix the many different technical issues with Borderlands 4, the team have also given us a first look at the game’s post-launch DLC plans. Arriving some time early next year, Borderlands 4 has officially unveiled its upcoming Vault Hunter ‘C4SH’.
Arriving sometime in Q1 2026 as part of Borderlands 4’s first paid story DLC pack ‘Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned’, C4SH is described as follows:
“A former casino dealer bot, C4SH is now a drifter who chases the probability-breaking highs of cursed eldritch artifacts. As luck would have it, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned is full of cosmic horrors that harbor uncanny curios, some of which can surely bend the odds in C4SH's favor.”
As is evident from the description, C4SH’s gameplay will revolve around luck, with each of his 3 action skills involving “an element of chance.”
A full breakdown of the vault hunter and their skills have not yet been shared. That said, the team did tease that “C4SH's risk-reward playstyle can lead to good fortunes like buffing himself and allies, dealing devastating damage, sapping the strength from foes, and more.”
DLC Vault Hunters was a common practice for Borderlands games, with BL3 being the primary outlier – replacing DLC characters with DLC skill trees for pre-existing Hunters instead.
While both offer their own benefits and downsides, it will be exciting to see exactly how C4SH plays when the character arrives next year. Hopefully all of the game’s various issues will have been sorted by then.
