Netgear has launched its new flagship mobile router, the Nighthawk M7 Pro, a device designed to deliver no-compromise internet connectivity for users on the move. Supporting both WiFi 7 and 5G, this portable router promises to bring the speed and reliability of a high-end home network to wherever you are, but it comes with a very premium price tag.
The M7 Pro is built for speed, leveraging the WiFi 7 standard to deliver wireless speeds of up to 5.8 Gbps, while its 5G modem can pull down data at up to 6 Gbps. Netgear claims this combination provides a considerable advantage over phone tethering, offering lower latency, faster downloads, and a much more stable connection for everything from 4K streaming to competitive gaming on the go.
Despite its compact design, the router can support up to 64 devices simultaneously across a 1,000 square foot area (~93 m²), making it a viable solution for a travelling family, a mobile work team, or even as a primary or backup internet connection at home. The built-in battery is rated for up to 13 hours of use, and the device is unlocked for use with any SIM card, supporting 5G roaming in over 125 countries.
Users can manage the device and monitor data usage via a 2.8-inch colour LCD touchscreen. Netgear is also emphasising the security benefits of the mobile 5G router, with the M7 Pro supporting WPA3 encryption and VPN passthrough for a more secure connection for your laptops, tablets, and phones. The Netgear Nighthawk M7 Pro is a beast on paper, and as you might expect, the price matches its figure. The mobile router is available now with a suggested retail price of £899.99.
KitGuru says: Based on its specs alone, the Netgear Nighthawk M7 Pro looks extremely promising. The question is whether you're willing to pay that much for a mobile 5G router.
