Eidos Montreal is assisting with the development of Fable

During the recent Xbox Games Showcase, we were given another look at Playground Games’ Fable, and though no release date was given, the game does appear to be shaping up rather nicely. In a surprising announcement, it was later revealed that Eidos Montreal of Deus Ex fame have been assisting with the development of Fable.

Making the surprise announcement on Twitter, the team at Eidos Montreal said “We're so excited to be supporting the development of @Fable! It's been a blast collaborating with the talented team at @WeArePlayground to craft an unforgettable adventure.”

No other details were provided on the extent of their involvement, but considering the fact that Playground Games have worked exclusively on the Forza Horizon racing series since their inception, it makes sense to ask for help from a studio more familiar with the genre and style of game Fable is.

Interestingly, this marks the second 1st-party Xbox game title which is being assisted by an ex-Square Enix studio, with Crystal Dynamics currently helping The Initiative with their Perfect Dark Reboot.

Hopefully the teams are able to synergise their talents for the benefit of the final product. We will have to wait and see.
