Bandai Namco trademarks the name ‘World Fighters’

Jump Force was an interesting though ultimately somewhat disappointing fighting game from Bandai Namco which featured a ton of characters from across Shonen Jump’s line-up of popular manga franchises. Released in 2019 and discontinued just a few years later, it appears as though a follow-up entry might be in the works, with the publisher trademarking the name ‘World Fighters’.

As discovered by ResetEra user Dale Copper, Jump Force publisher Bandai Namco recently filed a trademark listing on the 16th of September for the name ‘World Fighters’ under the category ‘downloadable computer game software’ – leading many fans to believe that a follow-up of sorts to Jump Force could be in the works.

Of course, given the relatively generic title, Bandai Namco could be planning for something else entirely based on the MANY different properties which it licences.

Bandai World Fighters

That said, a sequel to Jump Force would make some sense. While it was initially created in honour of Shonen Jump’s 50th anniversary – and received a mixed reception – the concept itself was solid and the arena fighter enjoyed strong initial sales.

As mentioned, Bandai Namco have released countless games across dozens of franchises and so this ‘World Fighters’ title could apply to any of them. Even so, hopefully they do give the Jump Force concept another try – especially as the previous game was delisted just a few years after launch.
