The Elder Scrolls 6 might be a launch title for next-gen Xbox

While The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced back in 2018, Bethesda has been very quiet on the subject since. The studio has been ramping up work on the game since shipping Starfield in 2023. Now, one leaker claims that we still have another couple of years to wait.

According to Extas1s (via Insider Gaming), who has leaked accurate information about Xbox Game Studios in the past, Bethesda is targeting a late 2027 release window for The Elder Scrolls 6. If accurate, that would mean that the game will release just a few months shy of the ten-year anniversary of its original announcement.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced in 2018 with a simple logo trailer, right alongside Starfield. Bethesda was fully transparent at the time that the game would not begin development until after Starfield released. However, fans have still grown frustrated with the wait, an issue that was exacerbated by the fact that Starfield launched to mixed reviews amongst both fans and critics.

While The Elder Scrolls 6 is the next ‘big project' from Bethesda Game Studios, the company is also continuing its work on Starfield. Recently, they teased a new DLC for the game, but no further details have been shared yet. Rumours claim that Starfield will come to PS5 next year alongside the next DLC. The game may also come to Nintendo Switch 2, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

KitGuru Says: It has been so long since Skyrim that I have begun to wonder if The Elder Scrolls brand still carries the same weight. With that said, the next generation Xbox is also expected in 2027, and having TES VI as a launch title would certainly be a big deal.
