The remake of Final Fantasy Tactics opted to retain the original's art style, so the new version isn't as much of a graphical upgrade, but the updates everywhere else are sure to reel in fans old and new. Today during a Nintendo Direct stream, a new trailer for the game released, revealing a number of major upgrades, including full voice acting.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will feature fully voiced cutscenes, new dynamic camera angles during combat and dialogue sequences and a brand new opening cinematic that gives players a new perspective on the War of the Lions.
As far as gameplay goes, the Final Fantasy Tactics remake will have an expanded job system, with two new classes with unique skill trees. This will bring some fresh flavour to the game for those who have already sunk in hours mastering the combat. If you make a mistake, a rewind mechanic will allow you to undo your last move, and a new Iron Valor difficulty mode will give you limited saves, as well as permadeath for all characters.
Interestingly, Final Fantasy Tactics will also include cross-save functionality, so if you have it on PC and console, you can transfer your save between whichever system you are playing on.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will release for PC, Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on the 30th of September.
