Konami is asking fans which Metal Gear game should be remade next

Fresh off the successful launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, it seems Konami is already planning its next move for the franchise. The company is currently sending out a survey to fans ahead of a special Tokyo Game Show livestream, asking them a simple but fundamental question: which Metal Gear game would you like to see remade next?

The poll, spotted by Metal Gear Network (via Insider Gaming), has been sent out ahead of a “Metal Gear Production Hotline” broadcast. The survey asks fans a variety of questions about the franchise. Still, the most interesting one is the one asking users to select all the games they would be interested in seeing receive the remake treatment. The list is comprehensive, including everything from the original 1987 Metal Gear up to 2015's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The complete list of Metal Gear games can be found below:

  • Metal Gear
  • Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
  • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
  • Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

While the upcoming livestream will likely focus on post-launch support for MGS Delta, including the upcoming “Fox Hunt” multiplayer mode, this survey is the first concrete sign that Konami is seriously considering further remakes. After years of the franchise lying dormant, this is an incredibly positive development for the community.

KitGuru says: Whether Konami is using this poll for marketing purposes or to genuinely guide its long-term development plans, it's a clear indication that the publisher sees a future for the Metal Gear series. All eyes will now be on the Tokyo Game Show broadcast for any more hints about what's next for the series.
