Heart Machine’s Possessor(s) is launching on November 11th

Possessor(s), the latest game to be announced by the creators of the Hyper Light series, has a release date set. The release is now scheduled for November 11th for PC and PS5. Alongside the announcement, the developer has published a new trailer featuring additional gameplay footage.

Possessor's combat system is shaping up to be one of the most creative we've seen in a while. In this stylish side-scrolling adventure, you play as Luca, a young girl who, with the help of her demon friend Rhem, must fight back against an invasion in her city using an arsenal of enchanted, everyday items. The core of the combat revolves around a two-part system. Luca equips a primary “weapon” for standard attacks, which in turn builds up “charges”. These are then spent to unleash “special weapons”, which are assigned to directional inputs. This system encourages aggressive play and allows for some unique and devastating combos.

The arsenal itself is pretty bizarre. While you might start with simple kitchen knives, you'll also find items like an electric guitar or a hockey stick. These are then paired with up to three “specials” for combo potential. The specials include a computer mouse, used to launch an enemy into the air, a pair of sunglasses for a parry/counter, and a katana that serves as a gap closer.

Players will find these weapons by exploring the ruins of Sanzu City, now home to possessed marine life. It's a stylish and mechanically deep action game with a unique premise. Possessor(s) is scheduled to launch for the PlayStation 5 and PC on November 11th.
