Asus GPU Tweak update brings Power Detector+ support to BTF motherboards

Asus GPU Tweak III's Power Detector+ feature is being introduced to BTF motherboards, allowing users with such boards to be warned in case of any anomalies in the power distribution of the 12V-2×6 power connectors.

Up to now, Power Detector+ has only been compatible with Asus high-end graphics cards. However, that's about to change with the expansion of the feature to BTF motherboards, which is introduced with the GPU Tweak III update v2.0.3.2 (via VideoCardz). For those unfamiliar, Power Detector+ is a monitoring technology that keeps a close eye on the power connector, alerting the user via the GPU Tweak software to any irregularities in power delivery that could indicate a potential problem.

The full patch notes for GPU Tweak III update v2.0.3.2 can be found below:

  • New: Power Detector+ UI update (supports BTF motherboard models)
  • Fixed: Fan curve display issue when switching between dual graphics cards.
  • Fixed: Incorrect fan naming when using dual graphics cards.
  • Fixed: Issue where 0 dB function was not disabled when setting one fan of a dual-fan graphics card to user-defined mode.
  • Fixed: Inconsistency in fan naming between the Home page and Monitor page for DUAL-RTX5060Ti series graphics cards.
  • Fixed: OSD showing CPU clock as 0 MHz.

The implementation of the BTF motherboards is particularly clever. Instead of monitoring a cable plugged directly into the GPU, with the new GPU Tweak III update, the software monitors the 12V-2×6 power connector that is located on the motherboard itself. This is the connector that feeds the GC-HPWR slot on the board, which in turn delivers power to a compatible BTF graphics card.

KitGuru says: Do you think other graphics card vendors should ship their graphics cards with support for features like Power Detector+?
