Capcom announces official end of support for Monster Hunter on Windows 10

It’s been known for a long time now that Microsoft is set to cease support for its Windows 10 platform in an effort to push further users to its ‘latest and greatest’ Windows 11. With the platform reaching its effective end-of-life this October, Capcom has warned fans that its mainline Monster Hunter games will no longer be supported on Windows 10.

Releasing a post on its Steam page, Capcom confirmed that as of the 14th of October “we will no longer guarantee that Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Wilds will run on Windows 10 systems.”

Of course, this announcement likely serves primarily as a means of legal protection should any of these games’ functionality be impacted, with Capcom adding:

“Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Wilds will still be possible to play on Windows 10 after October 14, 2025. However, future system updates or game title updates may make the game incompatible on Windows 10 systems.”

Given that Monster Hunter World and Rise have long passed their post-launch support period, Windows 10 users are unlikely to encounter too many issues – barring potential future security/stability patches.

This is far more pressing for Monster Hunter Wilds however, which is still in its relative early days of post-launch content – meaning there are (unfortunately) plenty of future opportunities for it to break on Windows 10.

If you’ve been holding out on updating your PC, you might want to start conceding to the fact that the ‘all-important’ Windows 11 update may soon become a necessity in order to play your library of games.

KitGuru says: Are you still rocking Win10? If you have updated to Win11, how long did you hold out for? Which of the two OS versions do you prefer overall? Let us know down below.
