AMD reportedly discontinues production of the Radeon RX 7900 GRE

AMD's Radeon RX 7900 GRE has reportedly reached the end of its production cycle. Retailers have confirmed that the card is being discontinued, and existing stock is decreasing rapidly.

The RX 7900 GRE was initially launched exclusively for the Chinese market in July 2023. It made its way to the global market in January of this year, offering a compelling solution between the RX 7900 XT and RX 7800 XT. Despite its initial limitations on overclocking and power adjustments, the RX 7900 GRE found favor among gamers thanks to its solid performance and competitive pricing. AMD eventually added overclocking support through driver updates, further enhancing its appeal.

However, with AMD's next-generation RDNA 4-based Radeon RX 8000 series GPUs on the horizon, the discontinuation of the RX 7900 GRE (initially reported by Tweakers) isn't entirely surprising. The upcoming RX 8000 series will likely offer comparable or even better performance at a similar or lower price, rendering the 7900 GRE less competitive.

For those who still have their sights set on the RX 7900 GRE, it might be wise to act quickly, as availability is dwindling. Retailers are confirming that existing stock will be the last, and once it's gone, it's gone.
