Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius is fully shutting down this October

Of all major console game publishers, Square Enix has been one of the more supportive of the mobile platform – releasing a ton of ports as well as dedicated mobile titles. One of its most successful has been Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius. Almost 10 years following the game’s launch (and one year after its discontinuation in the West), Square Enix has now announced that FF:BE will also be shutting down in Japan.

Making the announcement on their Japanese Twitter page (and as translated by the platform), the FF:BE team wrote: “Thank you very much for always playing FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS. We have decided to end the service as of 12:00 on Friday, October 31, 2025. We sincerely thank all of you who have played with us for such a long time.”

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

For the uninitiated, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius first launched worldwide in June of 2016, and since then has been updated and added to countless times while offering a ton of interesting and unique crossovers – just some of which included: NieR: Automata; Deus Ex: Mankind Divided; Just Cause 3; Xenogears; Fullmetal Alchemist and even Ariana Grande.

As mentioned, Brave Exvius was discontinued in the rest of the world last year, and so it seemed only a matter of time before the Japanese market followed suit. Still, this represents the end of an era for what once was one of the biggest gacha games around.
