Asus announce 11 inch UX ultrathin PC – i5/i7

Asus have announced the new ultrathin 11 inch UX PC which looks to be a direct competitor against the successful Apple MacBook Air.

The UX has an 11 inch screen with an aluminum alloy chassis which has a polished appearance. The company are aiming high saying that it ‘takes inspiration from luxury timepieces'. It is only 17mm thick at the broadest point and in a similar fashion to the MacBook Air uses SSD drives to keep battery drain to a minimum. There is also an ‘instant on resume' feature.

The UX surprisingly can utilise Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and the one apparently on demo at Computex uses a Core i5 2557M. The Core i7 processor has not been detailed, but literature sent out indicates that the chassis will accept them.

Battery life has not yet been detailed, but we hear claims of 5 hours+ which would put it firmly against the Air, exactly what Asus are aiming for.

KitGuru says: It looks very nice indeed, but it all depends on the price point.
