In the last month and a bit, Google has co-launched the attractive $249 Samsung Chromebook and a lower end $199 Acer C7 Chromebook. What these, and all previous Chromebooks have had in common is that they had no touchscreen capabilities, but if reports have their way this will soon change.
The touchscreen enabled Chromebook is said to have a 12 inch display and could start shipping before the end of the year. The report also claims that it will be a Google branded device produced by Compal Electronics on their behalf. Compal Electronics have previously produced computer electronics for Dell, Lenovo and Acer.
There are also clues in the Chrome OS code as some people have discovered. Over the past year touchscreen experimental touch gestures have been merged into the platform. One of example of this is “enable bezel touch actions on Chrome OS”.
It has been said for a while that Chrome OS and Android will eventually merge into one project and a touch enabled Chromebook seems like a big step in that direction.

I really doubt this will ever become a reality. They do not share the same market nor they pursue a common objective. They are two really different products.
