Windows 8 Metro comes to Apple iPad

No, Microsoft aren't directly supporting the Apple iPad, however thanks to new software it is possible to experience Windows 8 on your shiny new Apple tablet.

This is supported by Splashtop, a company known for their remote desktop software for Android and iOS. The software is known as Win8 Metro Testbed and it has full support for swiping, just like a real Windows 8 tablet. The user can swipe from the right to explore the Charms menu and pull down from the top to close applications.

The software will be available for $49.99, but there is a promotional rate now for $24.99 in the iTunes App Store.

Kitguru says: The real question is, will any iPad owners really want to run Windows 8 Metro?

  1. Why would you CHOOSE to run a Microsoft interface. We all know the iPad UI > Metro UI…

  2. I couldnt agree more with ben. I dont even like Apple and use Windows 7 and Android but Windows 8 UI is pants! literally.

I can’t see them selling many to Apple users, maybe developers can play with the OS on the move, but what a waste of coding skills on this.

Windows 8 is a fail, ill not be moving.
