Sony has used its State of Play showcases in the past in order to announce and detail some of the company’s more significant PlayStation Plus titles. During the most recent event, the console maker confirmed around half a dozen classics which are set to come to the service this Summer – alongside a surprise day-one PS Plus inclusion.
During the most recent State of Play, Sony officially teased some of the games set to drop onto PlayStation Plus over the coming months. First, on the classics front, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will receive a solid selection of titles – with the following being officially announced:
- Deus Ex: The Conspiracy – 17th June
- Twisted Metal 3 – 15th July
- Twisted Metal 4 – 15th July
- Resident Evil 2 – Summer
- Resident Evil 3 – Summer
Perhaps the most exciting announcement however was the confirmation that Sword of the Sea – the next game from Giant Squid – will be a day-one PlayStation Plus Extra addition.
For the uninitiated, Giant Squid was founded in 2013 by Matt Nava, who served as art director for both Flower and Journey by ThatGameCompany. Since then, the team have released two projects: ABZU and The Pathless – both of which feature excellent visuals, satisfying gameplay and unique vibes.
Sword of the Sea looks to be the team’s best work yet, and so it is exciting to see that millions will be able to enjoy the game for ‘free’ when it launches on the 19th of August.
