Marvel Tōkon announces closed beta for September

Back during Sony’s most recent State of Play, the console maker officially announced that they were partnering with both Marvel and Arc System Works to develop Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Set to arrive some time in 2026, those wanting to get in on the 4v4 action will soon receive the opportunity, as PlayStation has now officially announced that a closed beta is going live next month.

As part of this year’s EVO championships, Sony released a new trailer for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, confirming that a closed beta is set to take place next month.

Going live between the 5th and 7th of September, all those interested in partaking in the beta can sign up on PlayStation’s website HERE.

Of course, given that the game is still possibly over a year away, the beta itself will be relatively light, allowing you to try out six different playable characters and just one stage (with three areas). In addition, the 64-player lobby online mode will be accessible, as will a spectator mode.

Sony is of course going all-in on the fighting game genre, with the company acquiring EVO a couple years ago, creating their own dedicated PlayStation fight stick – and of course the joint development of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.

It will be interesting to see what beta participants think of this early build when it is made available in just over a month’s time.
