Bomb Rush Cyberfunk successor HYPERFUNK officially announced

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk released back in 2023 as a spiritual successor to SEGA’s underrated Jet Set Radio franchise. Developed by Team Reptile, the skate culture-focused collectathon platformer proved to be a hit, with overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam. In the wake of its success, the team have officially announced a follow-up, with HYPERFUNK bringing the 3D platformer into the multiplayer realm.

Releasing a brief teaser trailer, studio Team Reptile officially unveiled HYPERFUNK – an “extreme trick and graffiti game” in which players can “battle rival crews, hang out online, explore the city, do some crazy tricks and blast through the streets.”

Said to be coming to “PC and consoles” this successor includes all of what made the first game great and more – introducing a new boostpack in which “the higher your combo score, the faster you can boost, up to ridiculous speeds.”

The second major evolution compared to the first game is the introduction of online multiplayer, letting you “challenge other crews to a graffiti battle, where you will compete in real time on who can bomb the streets best, escape police and claim the area.”

Once again, players can choose to ride a skateboard, BMX bike or roller skates – though of course the new boostpack will make for vastly varying gameplay compared to the previous entry.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk was a great title with fun gameplay and a nostalgic vibe. HYPERFUNK looks to be taking things up to 11 on all fronts, and so it will be exciting to check out the game when it launches at some point in the unknown future.
