Valve is finally opening up the Counter-Strike 2 beta to more players

A few months ago, Valve officially announced Counter-Strike 2 and sent out a wave of invites to a beta version of the game. Many CS:GO players have been waiting for the next wave of invites to try CS2 and now, that day has finally arrived.

In an update posted in the early hours of this morning, Valve confirmed that it has sent out invites to “as many eligible players as possible”, so if you are a CS:GO player with Prime status and play official matchmaking games in one of the regions where the limited test is available, then you should have an invite waiting for you in the main menu for CS:GO starting from today. You simply click the button, enroll in the test, restart the game and the Counter-Strike 2 beta will install.

Valve says you also need an active competitive skill group to get into the limited test, but I've seen mixed results there. I had two friends with expired competitive ranks, one of them got in and the other didn't, so your mileage may vary.

Counter-Strike 2 was originally supposed to be released this Summer but as of now, we're entering the Autumn/Fall months. Valve wants to do more testing, so this beta could be going on for a few more months.
