Unreal Tournament update brings new game mode and weapons

It has been over two years since Epic Games first announced that it would be developing a new Unreal Tournament game, with plans to offer it up as a free experience without the usual ‘free to play' monetization. Since then, there has been a playable alpha, back in 2015 we got to see the first fully textured map and now in 2017, Unreal Tournament is starting to take shape, with new game modes and weapons still being added.

This week, Epic Games put out a new Patch Notes video showing off some of the recent additions to Unreal Tournament, including a new game mode and two new weapons. [yframe url='https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwJF-bW7s9k']

The new game mode is Flag Run, which is essentially a mash-up of Capture the Flag and Assault. The lightning rifle is now in the game, as well as a new prototype weapon. As with past versions of the game, this one is available to download and play but do keep in mind that it is still a work in progress and hasn't come out of the alpha phase just yet.

KitGuru Says: With Unreal Tournament now in its third year of development, I'm hoping that things start to pick up for a final release at some point this year. Have any of you tried out the alpha? What do you think of the latest update?
