The Outer Worlds 2 launches to positive reviews

The Outer Worlds 2 is just about to unlock later today for Premium Edition buyers, giving them a full five days of early access. Alongside this, the review embargo for the game has lifted, giving us a look at how critics from around the world feel about Obsidian's latest RPG. So far, it sounds like we're in for another fun adventure across colonised space.

The Outer Worlds 2 has achieved an 84 overall score on Metacritic, based on over 40 reviews from various outlets. The Open Critic score is similar, with 90% of critics recommending the game based on more than 80 reviews, with an average score of 82 amongst them. For reference, the first game, The Outer Worlds, scored an 85 overall score on Metacritic and 83 on Open Critic.

Some of the highlights noted so far include improved shooting mechanics, witty writing and RPG mechanics that truly allow gamers to ‘play their way'. It may not be a huge jump from the original though, so if you didn't like the first game, then the sequel may not change your mind. If you did enjoy the first game though, then you should have a good time playing through this new entry.

The Outer Worlds 2 unlocks later today for Premium Edition buyers. The Premium Edition includes 5 days of early access to the game, alongside the DLC pass, which promises two future story expansions. The standard edition of the game unlocks on Wednesday, 29th of October.
