Tekken 8 set to release in January 2024

Bandai Namco teased us with a first look at Tekken 8 a year ago but an official release date for the game has yet to be announced. Ahead of Gamescom Opening Night Live this evening, the Xbox store appears to have leaked the juicy details.

Twitter user Aggiornamenti Lumia, a regular Microsoft store dataminer who has revealed a number of leaks in the past, discovered that the Xbox Store was now listing a January 26th release date for Tekken 8. With Gamescom Opening Night Live set to air later today, it is likely that this release date is legitimate and an official announcement should be coming in a matter of hours.

Tekken 8 will usher in a new era for the long-running fighting game franchise. In fact, currently, Tekken holds the title for the longest-running story in a video game franchise.

Assuming the leak is accurate, as digital console store leaks often are, we'll be playing Tekken 8 in early 2024, giving the game plenty of distance from recent competitors like Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1.

KitGuru Says: Given how long it has been since the initial reveal, I would have expected Tekken 8 in 2023. However, with a new Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat both also launching this year, I get why the date may have been pushed back a bit.
