Sony has over 20 games planned for PlayStation VR2 launch

Sony has been slowly revealing new information about PlayStation VR2 over the last few months. We still don't have a launch date yet, but the next-gen VR headset should be coming soon, and Sony already has 20 games lined up for the launch.

During Sony's Investor Day (via VGC), Jim Ryan revealed quite a bit about future plans and strategies for PlayStation, including further investment in bringing games to new platforms, like PC and mobile. The PlayStation head also briefly talked about PS VR2, saying that the company has been spending “a considerable amount of money” to secure games for the PS VR2 launch.

So far, Sony has 20 games lined up for the launch, from both first-party and third-party studios. So far, only one of these games has been officially announced – Horizon: Call of the Mountain, a new game set in the same universe as Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West.

The PS VR2 headset will boast 4K and HDR visuals, 110-degree field of view and up to 120Hz refresh rate. So far, all signs are pointing to a 2023 launch.

KitGuru Says: With the original PSVR, we saw Sony's VR platform attracting interest from Triple A studios, but that interest has definitely waned over the last couple of years. Hopefully with PS VR2, that interest can be reignited. Perhaps we'll finally see Half-Life: Alyx overthrown as the best single-player VR game.
