Just one week ago, leakers began to claim that Sony would be hosting a new PlayStation State of Play stream before the end of the month. Now, just ahead of the Tokyo Game Show, Sony has confirmed exactly that.
For the uninitiated, State of Play is Sony's platform for announcing new games heading to PlayStation consoles (and occasionally PC too). Each show varies in length, but typically, they go on for at least 20 minutes, with the longest shows running for up to an hour. There is minimal downtime in the show, with a constant stream of back-to-back game trailers and announcements.
The next State of Play will take place tomorrow, the 24th of September at 10PM UK time.
The show will go on for 35 minutes, featuring a mix of first-party games from PlayStation Studios, as well as third-party games and a few indies. One of the big games already confirmed for the show is Saros, the next game from Housemarque, best known for making Returnal.
While not confirmed, recent rumours indicate that Insomniac's long-awaited Wolverine game will also be re-revealed at the show. The game was first announced alongside Spider-Man 2 several years ago and has been M.I.A. ever since. The game is expected to be re-announced with a 2026 release window.
