Lenovo appears to be having some issues keeping up with demand for its new Legion Go Gen 2 handheld system. The new handheld, which offers the same improvements as the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally, has been available for pre-order, but some customers have had their orders cancelled due to demand.
Over on the Legion Go Reddit community page, Lenovo confirms that some pre-orders for the Legion Go 2 have been cancelled because Lenovo can no longer guarantee that it will have the stock to fulfill those pre-orders at launch.
“We wanted to share an update after connecting with our Lenovo retail colleagues around the world. The good news is that more units are already on their way to major retailers globally, so you can expect to see availability in retail outlets and websites improving in the coming weeks”, a Lenovo spokesperson said.
“That said, we will need to cancel some pre-orders placed directly on Lenovo.com. We don’t believe in holding onto customer payments for products we can’t ship in a timely manner. As soon as our online inventory is replenished, Lenovo.com will show updated availability and ordering will reopen.”
The Lenovo Legion Go Gen 2 handheld is one of the more expensive options hitting the market, with a price tag of $1,099 for the base version, going up to just shy of $1500 for the most powerful version, which has a Ryzen Z2 Extreme CPU, 32GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD storage. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is due to launch soon and will be one of the first handhelds on the market to make use of the new Xbox Full Screen Experience for Windows. This new mode allows handhelds to boot straight into the Xbox App, with new buttons for multi-tasking and switching between game launchers. This feature will first be available on the ROG Xbox Ally handheld, launching on October 16th, before rolling out to other devices.

KitGuru Says: It sounds like the Legion Go 2 is already doing quite well. While orders have been paused for direct purchases on the Lenovo website, the company has boosted the stock allocated to other retailers, so if you shop around, you may be able to get your hands on one despite the recent pre-order cancellations.
