Everspace 2 gets free Unreal Engine 5 overhaul

Everspace 2 launched last year to great acclaim, swiftly becoming one of the most played games on Steam in 2023. Now, Rockfish Games has revamped the game, updating it to a new Unreal Engine 5 build with new content.

Everspace 2's latest update swapped out the UE4 version of the game with a new version based on Unreal Engine 5. As part of this overhaul, the game gets support for Lumen Global Illumination, as well as upscaling features like DLSS 3.5, FSR 3.0 and XeSS.

A shiny new engine isn't the only big change with this update though. Everspace 2 now has a range of new weapons and gear, an improved photo mode, and most importantly, new Incursion events.

Incursions are endgame challenges that will see players pushing their skills to the limits against enemies, with the goal of destroying their beacons. Upon completion, a large loot drop will be available to collect, making this one of the better ways to get hold of the in-game legendary weapons.

To celebrate this massive new update, Rockfish Games has also put Everspace 2 on sale, chopping 50 percent off the usual price on Steam.
