CD Projekt Red confirms The Witcher 4 won’t be releasing in 2026

Due to the first trailer for The Witcher 4 dropping last year, fans have been hoping for a 2026 release date. Fortunately, CD Projekt Red is putting expectations in check, stating that the game definitely won't be coming out next year.

During CD Projekt Red's most recent earnings report, the company's CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz, confirmed that the game won't be releasing in 2026. That doesn't necessarily confirm a 2027 release date either, but at least fans won't be keeping their hopes up.

Here is the full quote: “We are not going to announce the precise launch date for the game yet. All we could share now to give more visibility to investors is that the game will not be launched within the time frame of the first target for the incentive program, which ends December 31, 2026.”

So The Witcher 4 won't be releasing until the 2027 calendar year, at the earliest, and there are many factors that could cause the game to slip further. The good news is that CD Projekt Red is now longer a one-project studio, so none of this will have any bearing on Cyberpunk 2, which is also currently in development.

KitGuru Says: While Cyberpunk 2077 was clearly rushed, CD Projekt Red will be avoiding making those mistakes with The Witcher 4. With that in mind, I wouldn't be shocked if The Witcher 4 ended up slipping to 2028, with Cyberpunk 2 releasing closer to 2030.
