Battlefield 6 hits 500K wishlists on Steam ahead of multiplayer reveal

EA has been back on Steam for a few years now and the move has paid off. Following on from the reveal of Battlefield 6 last week, the game has surged to the top of many wishlists on Steam.

EA withheld its games from Steam for years but that changed in 2019, with the publisher's big return to the platform. So far, this has been a huge success, with games like Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1 and Battlefront 2 all benefitting from surging player counts via the Steam platform, long after release.

Nowadays, all EA games come to Steam at the same time as everywhere else. On Steam alone, Battlefield 6 has risen to 500,000 wishlists, according to Alinea Analytics (via Insider Gaming). That number was achieved in just one weekend, so it would seem that excitement is brewing for the next Battlefield game.

Battlefield 6 is expected to release in October, one month ahead of its biggest competitor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Every few years we end up wondering if Battlefield will manage to take COD's place as the premier shooter on the market, but a number of botched launches have kept the series from fulfilling its potential.

DICE and EA hatched a plan to ensure that things would be different for Battlefield 6. Earlier this year, Battlefield Labs launched, inviting thousands of fans to test out early parts of the game, giving DICE crucial feedback much earlier in the development process.
