After years of waiting and speculation, the apocalypse is officially back on. During its 2025 showcase event, THQ Nordic closed its show with the announcement fans have been waiting for: Darksiders 4 is in development. The sequel is being helmed by Gunfire Games (Remnant series), and the headline feature is the one the community has been requesting for over a decade – 4-player co-op.
The brief teaser trailer and accompanying story details confirm that Darksiders 4 will finally deliver on the promise made at the very end of the first game, picking up the story to continue the journey of the now-united Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as they fight to restore balance on a post-apocalyptic Earth.
The game is described as a third-person action-adventure, retaining the series' signature blend of fast-paced combat, environmental puzzles, and fluid traversal. According to the first store listings, the entire experience will be playable in single-player, 2-4 player online co-op, and even local split-screen co-op. As such, we assume that all Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will be playable: War, Death, Fury, and Strife.
THQ Nordic has not yet announced a release date for the game, but wishlists for Darksiders 4 are now live on PC and console storefronts.
