Upcoming Wii U update will cut loads times

Due for release in April, a Wii U firmware update from Nintendo is set to cut loading times down by a significant margin. To showcase this, Nintendo released a short video that shows how much quicker the Wii U is able to get back to the main menu when leaving a game after the new update.

Anyone that games with an SSD will be scoffing at anything over a couple of seconds, but the video does show a marked improvement. Partly though, it makes you wonder why this wasn't the norm before hand anyway? If the hardware was capable, why did Nintendo wait until a few months after release to make such a difference to load times? [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBmg_CNsQcc']

Of course we don't know if this new found speed is applicable to in-game load times or for boot times for individual games, as Nintendo only deemed to show us the speed the Wii U can now exit games at.

KitGuru Says: Any of you got Monster Hunter Ultimate? What are the load times like? Perhaps this will help out with them, as if they're anything like the Wii version of Monster Hunter Tri, they'll be a pain in the ass after a while.
