In the wake of the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, the console maker has spoken on bringing back many of the publisher’s more legacy games and franchises. Following reports that Microsoft was working on bringing some of Activision’s Transformers titles back from the dead, the much-loved Transformers: Fall of Cybertron has been relisted on Steam (though not yet purchasable).
Back during the Microsoft-Activision talks, a Hasbro spokesperson expressed their desires for the potential owners to revive many of Activision’s legacy Transformers games.
In the years since the deal went through, there have been plenty of rumours surrounding various old Activision IPs being brought back, including a report claiming that Transformers War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron re-releases were being worked on.
Though yet to be officially announced, the long-removed Steam page for Fall of Cybertron has since been relisted, with all of the assets and descriptions being added just recently – indicating that this is more than just a fluke.
Assuming the re-emergence of Fall of Cybertron is real, we could see an official announcement from Microsoft during their Tokyo Game Show presentation. We won’t have to wait long to find out.
