Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is another massive indie success story

It’s been a pretty good year so far for odd sim management games, with the likes of Schedule 1 taking Steam by storm upon its release back in March. The next viral indie offering in this genre looks to be the Papers Please-esque zombie infection management simulator ‘Quarantine Zone: The Last Check’ – which has now surpassed 1 million total wishlists on Steam.

Taking to their Steam page to make the announcement, indie devs Brigada Games revealed that the upcoming Quarantine Zone: The Last Check has “crossed a massive milestone of 1 Million wishlists.”

In addition, the demo, which was released back in late May, has exceeded over 1.5 million players.

The base building, infection inspection management, first-person simulation game seems to have enticed more than just 1 million players however, with the devs announcing that they have now formed a partnership with Devolver Digital to publish the title.

Previously, the game was set to be self-published by Brigada Games themselves. Speaking on this new agreement however, they wrote: “This provides our team with additional resources and options to increase the quality of the final product and reach as many potential players as possible.”

The team continued, “We are so excited about where this partnership can take us, and because we’re going to be able to try some new things, we’ll need to push Quarantine Zone’s launch window from September to November of this year (with the exact date to be announced later on).”

The first-person management sim genre has been woefully underserved in the AAA video game market, and so it is encouraging to see various indie devs take on the challenge – so far to great success across the board.
