Amazon recently announced that they are revamping their Amazon Luna game streaming service, offering some new benefits alongside AI-powered party games. In an effort to synergise its gaming services, Amazon has now announced that it is retiring its Prime Gaming label – folding it instead into Amazon Luna directly.
Taking to their Twitter page to make the announcement, the official Twitch Support team confirmed that “Prime Gaming is becoming part of Amazon Luna,” adding that “no changes are being made to Prime perks on Twitch. You'll still have your free monthly channel sub, emote sets, chat colors & badge.”
As of right now, the Prime Gaming label is still being used across Twitch, allowing you to get your monthly rotation of free games and other benefits in the exact same way as always.
That said, expect the moniker to change at some point between now and and whenever the all-new Amazon Luna launches at some point “later this year.”
While trying to consolidate all of your gaming-related services under one brand does make sense, Amazon Luna as a name tells the average customer very little compared to the much simpler ‘Prime Gaming’.
It will be interesting to see how this rebranding impacts total users. Full details on the “reimagined” Amazon Luna can be found HERE.
