After cooking in the oven for 7 years, Team Cherry is finally ready to release Hollow Knight: Silksong to the world. Ahead of the game’s launch on the 4th of September, many fans seem to have returned to the predecessor – with the original Hollow Knight having now more than doubled its previous peak concurrent player count on Steam.
With Hollow Knight: Silksong set to launch on the 4th of September, interest surrounding the series as a whole has ballooned, with SteamDB revealing that the original Hollow Knight has now hit a new all-time peak concurrent player count of over 45k on Steam (45,595 players to be exact).
While surpassing your previous peak player count more than 8 years on from launch is on its own worthy of note, what is even more surprising is the fact that the peak CCU more than doubled compared to its previous high of 20,324 CCU back in May of 2022.
Unlike some indie games, Hollow Knight’s rise has been a relatively slow one, with the game never really having a ‘viral’ moment. That said, after almost a decade and 15 million copies later, it seems fans are flooding back to Hollow Knight in great anticipation for the sequel.
KitGuru says: Have you picked Hollow Knight back up? Is Silksong a day-one purchase for you? How many copies do you think it’ll sell in its first week? Let us know down below.
