Sandisk introduces ‘Designed for Xbox’ storage for ROG Xbox Ally

SanDisk and its sister brand WD_Black have today announced a new range of officially licensed storage solutions for the Asus ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X portable consoles. Revealed at TGS 2025, the new microSD card and internal NVMe SSD are part of the “Designed for Xbox” initiative, offering officially validated storage expansion for the popular Windows-based handhelds.

For an easy, hot-swappable upgrade, there is the new SanDisk microSD Card for ROG Xbox Ally (X). This high-performance SD card is designed for gamers to install and play titles directly from it, offering read speeds of up to 200MB/s for fast load times. It's available for pre-order now in three capacities: 512GB for $69.99, 1TB for $149.99, and a massive 2TB drive for $299.99, with a launch date set for October 16th, coinciding with the release of the new handheld.

For those who need the absolute best performance and are comfortable opening up their device, there's the new WD_Black SN7100X NVMe SSD. This is a PCIe 4.0 drive that offers read speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,900 MB/s. It will be available in 2 TB ($159.99) and 4 TB ($279.99) capacities and comes with a 1-month trial of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This drive is scheduled to launch in the coming months.
